Definition
A connection-line notation that integrates control flow and data flow into a single representation, capturing the semantic information flow among processes, entities, and events. Each connection line simultaneously represents the trigger for an action (control) and the transmission of information (data), expressing the semantic causal structure of actions, information, and state transitions.
SimpleModeling
In SimpleModeling, it is used as the connection-line notation for Semantic Message Flow Diagrams, enabling extended expression of the semantic structure of control and data in existing UML-based diagrams such as robustness diagrams. While BPMN Message Flow focuses on inter-process communication, Semantic Message Flow Notation addresses the integrated semantic representation of control and data within a single model.
